Most of the staff were lovely. They let me go back with my fiance, answered our questions, saw us quickly, and gave us a sling for her arm. That said, I don't know if Doctor Khaled M Abdel-hamid has a problem with all women or just lesbian ones, but he was highly unprofessional. When he came in, my fiance says he already seemed annoyed with us. I didn't notice. What I couldn't fail to notice is that when I got up and showed her the radius of the pain on her shoulder (which she couldn't reach to show him), he accused me of not letting him examine "his patient." I wasn't sure how I was doing that and said that I was just trying to help her, he said that the only help I could be was with the medical history. I told him that he was making her uncomfortable (because she was displaying her anxiety behaviors), he threatened to not see us. Said that in that case we'd better go to somewhere where there was a female doctor. I told him that no one was stopping him from examining her and that I didn't appreciate how confrontational he was being. He said that he wasn't being confrontational (the man had squared off against me, was glaring at me, and was almost yelling), and he stormed out. We could hear him talking at the nurse's station down the hall, which means he was being loud. When he came back, he the person who'd taken my fiance's vitals with him, and she conducted most of the rest of the session. He wouldn't do any other kind of testing and said she should just take ibuprofen. Not only did he make it clear that he was uncomfortable with me being there from the start, we feel like he rushed us out afterwards. The "detailed care instructions" he said he'd give us regarding the injury were not included in our visit paperwork. So the rest of the staff is good. They get an extra star. If we go back though, I'm going to call first to make sure that the apparently sexist and/or homophobic Doctor Khaled Abdel-hamid isn't the only doctor on staff. I will tolerate many things. Behavior that interferes with the care and happiness of the woman I'm going to marry is something I will never tolerate. Shame on you, Doctor Abdel-hamid. Update: After doing what this doctor said to do, a week later the pain was going all the way down her back. The sling just made it worse. We took her to the Total Access Urgent Care in the area, and the doctor there actually examined her. They had her move her arm and asked when it hurt. They gave her an x-ray. They gave her a shot of muscle relaxant and gave her a prescription for a muscle relaxant and for something for the pain. They wrote up what was wrong, gave her a copy of her x-rays, and referred her to a physical therapist. I'm telling you this so you can see how a doctor is supposed to behave. It's not even that he was rude o r confrontational at this point. It's that he didn't do his job because of some personal problem, and as a result the woman I love suffered for an additional week. So don't go here. Don't see Doctor Khaled M Abdel-hamid. Go to the Total Access Urgent Care down the road a bit. Trust me.
