Disappointed is the only word I can use to describe my experience. Sent my daughter to have a muffler and resonator pipe replaced on her car. Charged me $475.96 for a cheap muffler made in Taiwan and $109.96 for a resonator pipe. I found a Walker muffler for $177 at Rock Auto and a resonator for $47. I don't mind a little markup to make a reasonable profit, but this is obscene. Too bad they feel the need to pad their prices so much. I was going to use them more frequently since they were close and seemed reputable, but not now.
Followup: Yes, I did approve the work to be done over the phone. I assumed the charges would be high due to a complicated installation. It wasn't. Markup on components was more than 100%. I was also charged for a rear windshield wiper that neither myself nor my daughter authorized ($20). Yes, I could have contacted you, but I am too busy to bother chasing down a business owner for failing to do the right thing in the first place.
You don't understand business very well if you believe that you have to charge exorbitant markups to stay in business. I will always pay more for great customer service at a small business if I am charged a REASONABLE price. That's why I am taking my business back to Roy's Automotive. It is out of my way, but at least I have never been gouged by them.
